The Hunter region will benefit from $6.22 million in funding to improve digital infrastructure in eight TAFE campuses across the area.

The multi-million-dollar investment includes upgrading the outdated 2009 network, enhancing connectivity across 68 campus locations, and providing 14,900 new devices for students, employees and teaching spaces.

These upgrades are essential for supporting modern educational needs in hybrid leaning environments.

The first stage of the improvements, which include Wi-Fi and digital infrastructure upgrades, will be completes at 28 campuses by the end of August.

An additional 40 campuses are scheduled for completion by June 2025.

3. Maitland - $636,000

4. Newcastle (Hunter Street) - $360,000

Minister for the Hunter, Yasmin Catley said:

"For too long, TAFE students have been using outdated technology, which falls short in today's quickly changing world.

"Students living outside of the city deserve the same high-quality equipment as those in the city.

"Top-notch education is crucial for the Hunter to stay competitive, and this new funding will ensure our students have access to the best resources, helping them excel in every way."

Minister for Skills, TAFE and Tertiary Education, Steve Whan said:

"The Minns Labor Government recognises that to expand learning opportunities in local communities, TAFE NSW needs enhanced network infrastructure and improved connectivity.

"Investing in technology-enriched campuses will enable TAFE NSW to better deliver skills for critical and emerging industries. To date, we have already provided more than 6,000 new classroom devices for learners.

"Investing in TAFE NSW ensures that the capacity to deliver skills for critical and emerging industries for a modern economy is increased, and key workers in priority industries are trained to build a robust, scalable, and skilled workforce."
