LOCAL STUDENTS VISIT NSW PARLIAMENT
Local Central Coast students from St Brigid’s Catholic College visited NSW Parliament and met with the Member for Swansea – Yasmin Catley.
The students experienced the inner workings of state politics during the visit to NSW Parliament House in Sydney. As part of the excursion, students visited the Legislative Assembly, Legislative Council and experienced Parliament in session.
Yasmin Catley addressed the students discussing her role as a local Member and Minister before taking questions.
The visit formed part of Legal Studies and the Legislature, an education program run by the Parliament of NSW that supports the Stage 6 Legal Studies curriculum. The initiative is designed to give students a practical understanding of how the legislative process operates beyond the classroom.
Member for Swansea, Yasmin Catley said:
“There’s something uplifting about kids moving through Parliament with curiosity and confidence. They ask questions, take it all in and you can see them starting to picture their place in the bigger world.
“Students from the Hunter are always so engaged and thoughtful. They don’t just observe - they participate, challenge and leave you feeling very optimistic about their future and ours.
“Thanks for visiting and St Brigid’s Catholic College, and good luck with your studies.”
