The NSW Government is delivering $6m to upgrade Scenic Drive, Budgewoi. The project will deliver benefits to road users and the local community between Wills Road and Ourringo Street, with a key focus on the area where Halekulani Oval, the skatepark and Budgewoi shopping village are located.
Feedback from the initial round of community consultation has been handed to government. A concept design will be developed over the coming months using feedback received from members of the community in October and November 2024, which considered a range of improvements to increase safety for all road users.
There was strong support for road safety and active transport improvements, including safer pedestrian crossings and pathways, and for a reduced speed limit along stretches of Scenic Drive.
Transport for NSW will continue to develop these improvements including adjusting the Budgewoi shopping village car park entry at Noela Place, new pedestrian signals at the shopping village and refuges at other locations, a speed limit reduction to support improved safety, more accessible bus stops and upgrades to existing active transport infrastructure around Slade Park and Budgewoi Bridge.
The concept design will be developed over the coming months and released for further community consultation once finalised.
